Lucas Rabelo, 20 Seconds at Red Bull: What’s in His Bag?
This 20-second Red Bull clip has one first name in its caption. From Pirambu to 2023 Pan American gold, here's what Lucas Rabelo packs in his bag.
On October 4, 2026, Red Bull posted 20 seconds of skating on its TikTok account, with three words in the caption: “lucas in his bag”. No last name, no tag. The Lucas in question is Lucas Rabelo, a kid from a poor neighborhood in Fortaleza, Brazil. What he has in his “bag”, Red Bull put in writing five years ago.

We’re going to open that bag. But first, we need to understand why the most visible drink brand in skateboarding is presenting one of its athletes by his first name alone.
In this article 6 parts
- 16,600 views on TikTok: viral, really?
- Pirambu, Fortaleza: the neighborhood where the bag starts
- Long Beach, 2021: Red Bull signs him, Flip already turned him pro
- The bag, unpacked: what Red Bull was already saying in 2021
- Chiba, April 2022: 4th place, then the knee gives out
- Matuê in the background: his 2025 part that shows where he’s at
16,600 views on TikTok: viral, really?
As of October 29, the clip has 16,600 views, 1,675 likes and 13 comments. On the same account, Sandro Dias’s record is sitting at 15.8 million views. The Skate Tales episode with Madars Apse in Las Vegas tops 179,000.
So no, it’s not a tidal wave. It’s the account’s average, a Sunday post like the ones Red Bull puts out almost every day. And that’s exactly what’s intriguing. Nobody bothered to write “Rabelo”. The Red Bull cap pulled down on his head is enough to introduce him.
On the Red Bull Skateboarding YouTube channel, only one Lucas has been presented as a team member. To understand how he got there, we have to go back to the beach.

Pirambu, Fortaleza: the neighborhood where the bag starts

Lucas Rabelo was born on January 1, 1999, in Fortaleza, in northeastern Brazil. He started skating at 11, in the Pirambu neighborhood, right by the ocean. Very early on, he was already filming his sessions in the streets of the city.
At 13, he gets spotted. He leaves his family and moves to Porto Alegre, over 3,000 kilometers to the south. A kid alone, a board, a bet.
Brazil has already walked this path before him. Tiago Lemos was bending the big ledges, and São Paulo built Praça Roosevelt while Philadelphia was tearing down Love Park. Rabelo arrives in a country that knows how to make pros. Now he has to prove he’s one too.
Long Beach, 2021: Red Bull signs him, Flip already turned him pro
In 2020, Flip Skateboards turns him pro. He settles in Long Beach, California. A year later, in September 2021, Red Bull films an episode of Field Day with him and introduces him as their newest recruit.
That same year, things speed up. He takes silver in street at the 2021 World Championships, then gold at the Junior Pan American Games in Cali. In his video for the Red Bull SŌLUS contest, the brand lists his sponsors: Flip, Red Bull, Jessup, Matriz Skateshop and Thunder Trucks.
Remember the name Matriz. That Porto Alegre shop never let go of him, and four years later it’s the one that comes up with his cut.
The bag, unpacked: what Red Bull was already saying in 2021
Here’s the answer. The TikTok legend’s “bag” isn’t a random line. In October 2021, while presenting his SŌLUS video, Red Bull already described him as a rider with a bag of handrail tricks that only he can land every time.

Two examples cited by the brand: the hardflip frontside noseslide and the bigger flip frontside boardslide. Two tricks where you spin the board in the air before landing it on a metal rail. Just one, landed in a contest, is enough to get the stands on their feet. Him, according to Red Bull, lands them every single time.
The 20-second clip says nothing more. Two sessions, two outfits, yellow handrails, and the same instinct: hop onto the rail the way others step off a curb. Red Bull doesn’t need his last name. The bag is his signature.

Chiba, April 2022: 4th place, then the knee gives out
In April 2022, at the X Games in Chiba, Japan, he finishes 4th. He waves to the crowd, Red Bull helmet on his head. A month later, in May, he tears the ACL in his left knee. Surgery, season over before it even started.
The comeback comes in Santiago, Chile, at the 2023 Pan American Games. He takes gold in street there. In August of that same year, The Berrics pits him against Luan Oliveira, his teammate at Cariuma, in the first round of Battle at the Berrics.

Matuê in the background: his 2025 part that shows where he’s at
On December 22, 2025, Matriz drops Ride Through, his three-minute part. Everything is filmed in the United States, set to Like This by Brazilian rapper Matuê. He now splits his year between Brazil and the United States.

That’s the full loop. The kid from Pirambu has a Brazilian shop behind him, Flip under his feet, and an Austrian energy drink on his head. And ten months later, Red Bull is showing him on TikTok with one word.
Just one first name on an account followed worldwide: either it’s a rushed community manager, or it’s a bet that you’ll recognize him without help. The 16,600 views say the bet isn’t won yet. For now, Pirambu knows exactly which Lucas we mean.
