SLS Tempe, August 29, 2026: 5,000 Seats and One Very Specific Reason to Come Back to Arizona

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Street League is dropping its course into Mullett Arena, on the Arizona State University campus in Tempe. It’s Stop 04 of the 2026 Championship Tour, tickets are on sale, and the building caps out at 5,000 seats. Small venue, deliberate call — and there’s a very specific reason SLS is coming back to skate Arizona.

Where, when, and how to grab your ticket

It all fits in three lines. Saturday, August 29, 2026. Mullett Arena, 411 S Packard Drive, Tempe, Arizona. Tickets on sale on Ticketmaster, the official box office for the Tempe Takeover. SLS hasn’t put out a public price list — the ticketing page shows live pricing, tier by tier, and it moves as the building fills up.

The day’s run of show hasn’t been published for Tempe yet. At previous stops, SLS opens doors in the early afternoon, rolls through practice, the wildcard jam, the women’s final then the men’s final, and wraps with the awards at the end of the day. Until the organizer drops the official August 29 schedule, we won’t sell it to you as a done deal — we’ll update it here the second it lands.

Watching from France: 9 hours behind, and it’s free

Arizona never changes its clocks. In late August, Tempe runs 9 hours behind Paris. What that means in real life: a final that kicks off mid-afternoon over there lands in the middle of the night for you. Plan on the replay, or plan on the coffee.

On the broadcast side, SLS streams its stops live and free: its Rumble channel and its official YouTube channel, exactly like the Rio stop on August 9. Who’s going to be there? The Tempe roster isn’t out yet

Let’s say it up front: as we hit publish, SLS hasn’t announced the Tempe lineup. What we do have is the roster from April’s DTLA Takeover, the season’s last North American stop, published by the organizer. It’s a reference point, not a start list — but the tour runs on a stable core, and these are the names you see from one arena to the next.

The reason for the return: August 28, 2010, Arizona

Here’s the answer promised at the top of the page. The very first contest in Street League Skateboarding history went down on August 28, 2010, at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale — on the other side of the Phoenix metro. Rob Dyrdek had just launched his league with an idea both simple and a little crazy: put street skating inside an American sports arena, with judges, instant scoring, and the biggest prize money ever laid on a skateboarding table.

So August 29, 2026 lands sixteen years almost to the day after that first contest, in the same metro area. SLS isn’t hiding it: on its Tempe page, the league says in black and white that it’s coming back to "where it all began." This isn’t a filler stop between Rio and Roland-Garros. It’s an anniversary dressed up as a championship stop.

And that geographic detail brings up another one the calendar never planned for: Jagger Eaton was born in Mesa, the town glued to Tempe. The guy won Tampa Pro in April, he’s got two Olympic medals in the drawer, and he could be skating in front of his family fifteen minutes from home. If a storyline was ever going to write itself, it’s this one.

5,000 seats: why that’s good news

Mullett Arena belongs to Arizona State University. It’s the Sun Devils’ hockey barn, opened in 2022, and it served as the Arizona Coyotes’ temporary NHL home between 2022 and 2024 — the smallest capacity in the league’s modern era, capped at 4,600 seats for pro hockey.

Translated into session terms: nobody’s far from the course. No stands fifty meters away, no giant screen required to follow what’s going on. You hear the tails snap, you hear the rider catch their breath before their last attempt. The contests that stick in the collective memory — Tampa Pro first among them — all share the same proudly owned flaw: they’re too small. That’s exactly what makes them good.

What Tempe weighs in the season

The 2026 Championship Tour has seven stops: Sydney in February, Downtown Los Angeles in April, Rio on August 9, Tempe on the 29th, Roland-Garros on October 3, Tokyo on November 14, and one last stop in Brazil in December, host city still unannounced. Tempe hits right in the thick of the second half — the moment the overall standings start sorting riders out for real.

Concretely: three weeks after the Rio stop, anyone who blew it at the Maracanãzinho gets an immediate shot at redemption, and anyone who built a lead has to defend it. It’s that kind of tight back-to-back that flips a season, not the big finals on their own.
