SLS Rio Takeover 2026: August 9 at Maracanãzinho, tickets and roster

Sunday, August 9, 2026, the SLS Rio Takeover drops its obstacles inside the Maracanãzinho, right in the heart of Rio de Janeiro. One single day, a women’s final, a wildcard jam, a men’s final, and a Brazilian crowd that has never needed anyone to explain how to react. Tickets are on sale, the broadcast runs on Rumble. Here’s everything that’s confirmed.

Sunday, August 9 — the run of show, hour by hour

The whole thing fits into one day. SLS dropped the full Rio Takeover schedule on its official site: doors at 9:00 AM Brasília time, awards at 2:30 PM. Rio sits five hours behind France in August — translation for you: it kicks off around afternoon-coffee o’clock and wraps before happy hour.

Tickets went live July 8, and SLS confirmed as recently as a few days ago that seats were still available. It all runs through Ticketmaster Brazil — that’s the only channel the organizer is pointing to. Anything else you stumble across on the resale side, skip it: a one-date event in an 11,800-seat arena is exactly the kind of hunting ground scammers live for.

SLS hasn’t broken down prices or ticket tiers in its releases — you’ll see them straight on the Ticketmaster page when you book. Same story for any kind of autograph pass: nothing announced, the 10:15 AM signing session simply shows up on the official run of show.

Who’s rolling into the Maracanãzinho

The roster is out. On the men’s side: Toa Sasaki, Giovanni Vianna, Angelo Caro, Filipe Mota, Julian Agliardi, Felipe Gustavo, Cordano Russell and Ginwoo Onodera, plus two wildcards still unnamed. On the women’s side: Daniela Terol, Funa Nakayama, Momiji Nishiya, Aoi Uemura, Gabriela Mazetto and Rayssa Leal. Two Brazilians are coming home, and in that building, that plays out on a completely different level.

The Maracanãzinho: 11,800 seats, opened in 1954

Officially named Ginásio Gilberto Cardoso, the Maracanãzinho is an 11,800-seat indoor arena that opened in 1954, sitting right next to the Maracanã stadium in Rio’s north zone. Historically it’s a volleyball house — concrete dome, stands dropping straight down onto the floor, acoustics like a pressure cooker. Meaning the sound has nowhere to go.

And that’s exactly what’s going to make the day. An indoor arena, 11,800 people stomping on concrete, a course set up in the middle and not a meter of breathing room between the stands and the coping. When a local lands his trick, the noise has nowhere to escape to: it comes back down on him half a second later, as an echo. In a room like that, you stop hearing your wheels roll. You feel the floor before you hear anything at all.

SLS is no stranger to Rio: the city hosted the Super Crown back in 2022. This time it comes back in the Takeover format, the short setup launched this season — one day, straight to the finals, no qualifiers stretched across three days.

How to watch from France

SLS is announcing a live broadcast on its Rumble channel. No French broadcaster has been announced at this stage — if that changes, SLS’s official channels will be the first place it shows up. The time difference works in your favor: women’s final around 4:15 PM and men’s final around 6:15 PM, on a Sunday. You’ve got zero excuses.

What’s actually on the line on August 9

On paper, it’s one more contest in a season that lines up six of them. Except Brazil doesn’t consume skateboarding the way the rest of the tour does. Here, Rayssa Leal isn’t skating in front of spectators: she’s skating in front of a country that has watched her grow up live since she was 13. Vianna and Felipe Gustavo are coming home with that same weight on their shoulders. A blown run in Rio doesn’t cost you points — it costs you the silence of 11,800 people. That’s what makes this date different from the others.

Add the wildcard jam on top of that: two finalist spots handed out the same day, open format, no safety net. It’s the moment of the day where somebody can literally change their life in three minutes.
