The Skateboarding Deck (Deck/Board/Plateau)
« Choosing Your Deck Wisely »
It’s crucial to choose your skateboarding deck well, to make progress easier and feel more comfortable.
I hope our tips will help you choose your deck.
How do you choose your deck size?
First, according to your personal criteria: your age, height, weight, shoe size, and usage (trick preference).
A street skateboarding deck is divided into 3 parts:
- The « Tail » (the back)
- The « Concave » (the middle)
- The « Nose » (the front)
The « Tail » (the back) is generally smaller and quite raised, to facilitate trick pop.
The « Nose » (the front) is longer and less curved.
If you don’t know which part is the front or the back, you can orient yourself using the board graphic.
Looking at the « Board » from the side, you see the curve of the « Board », this is the « Board »’s concave.
It allows for better control of the « Board » during tricks.
The different board sizes!
Board sizes are measured by width, expressed in inches; one inch is 2.54 cm.
Most skateboarding decks measure between 7.3″ to 8.75″.
The board size influences how you skate, so it’s important to choose it well.
Your choice should also take into account your height, weight, and shoe size.
Now that the board size is chosen, you can select the trucks and wheels that would match it.
