The Spring Showdown
Every spring brings its must-have drops. But this time, it’s on another level. Vans and Nike SB have released two shoes that will define what skaters wear until fall.
On one side, the Vans Skate Era WaffleCup — the world’s first skateboarding shoe, celebrating 50 years with technology we’ve been waiting for for a decade. On the other, the Nike SB Dunk Low x Dashawn Jordan « Copperhead » — a project the Arizona skater had been working on for five years. If you’re building your complete setup, shoes are what really make the difference daily.
Vans Skate Era WaffleCup — 50 years and still on top
In 1976, Vans released the Era. The very first shoe designed specifically for skateboarding. Fifty years later, they’re not just settling for an anniversary colorway. They’re reinventing the sole.
The WaffleCup technology finally solves the debate that has always divided skaters: vulc or cupsole? Vans’ answer in 2026: both. The hybrid sole retains the board feel of vulcanized — that direct contact with the board everyone loves — while adding the structural support of a cupsole. Add DuraCap on wear areas, SickStick rubber for grip, and PopCush for cushioning. It’s the most complete setup Vans has ever put under a foot.
Tony Alva has been skating the Era since 1976. Geoff Rowley, Dick Rizzo, Pedro Delfino — the current team validates the WaffleCup daily in the streets. When a shoe goes through five decades of professional skateboarding without losing its relevance, it’s not marketing. It’s a benchmark.

Nike SB Dunk Low x Dashawn Jordan « Copperhead »
Dashawn Jordan spent five years building this project. X Games gold medalist, Tampa Am and Tampa Pro winner — he had the status to do any collab. He chose to tell something personal.
The inspiration: the Arizona Diamondbacks, his hometown baseball team, in their 2001 World Series version. The result: snakeskin leather on a black background with teal and purple accents, interchangeable laces in five colorways, a snake-head-shaped dubrae, and exclusive artwork on the insole. It’s more than a skateboarding shoe. It’s a statement of belonging.
Performance-wise, Zoom Air in the heel provides cushioning. Thick leather protects much better than classic canvas for technical skateboarding. A tip if you order them: go half a size up.
