World Skate Games 2026: 3 Spots Per Country in Asunción, and No Tickets on Sale 21 Days Out

From October 2 to 18, 2026, Asunción hosts the World Skate Games, aka the skateboarding world championships. Seventeen days, over 10,000 athletes and staff, around a hundred countries. And one line, buried in an official table, that decides everything: 3 spots per country in street, 3 in park. Three guys, three girls. Not one more.

Asunción, October 2 to 18: 17 Days and 154 World Titles

The host city is Asunción, capital of Paraguay. Not Rio, not Barcelona: a city of 500,000 on the Paraguay River, a two-hour flight from São Paulo. World Skate is announcing 12 sports, one esport, 23 disciplines and 154 world champion titles handed out over seventeen days. Everything goes down inside Asunción — no venue 120 miles out of town, no two-hour shuttle.

The opening ceremony lands on October 2, the closing on the 18th. A detail that matters to us: skateboarding kicks things off and wraps them up. The first skate final — vert — goes down on October 3, the day after the opening. The last one — street — on the 18th, closing day. In between, a full two weeks.

Five Skate Disciplines, Four Venues: The Official Schedule

In late August, World Skate released version 3 of the official schedule, with venues listed discipline by discipline. Skateboarding takes up five lines — street, park, vert, downhill, slalom — spread across four venues. Here's the program, exactly as it's written in the document.

  Esplanade of the Palacio de López, right downtown. Practice from September 29, qualifiers on October 1 and 2.

• DownhillOct 3 to 5

  On the Lambaré hill, south of the city. Same road as inline downhill and street luge.

• ParkFinal Oct 10

  Skate Park at the Paraguayan Olympic cluster. Practice October 3 to 5, qualifiers October 6 to 9.

• SlalomOct 15 to 17

  Lambaré hill as well. Three formats on the program: giant, hybrid and tight.

• StreetFinal Oct 18

  Street Skate Park, Olympic cluster. Practice October 11 to 13, qualifiers October 14 to 17. Last title of the Games.

3 Spots Per Country in Street: The Number That Sorts Everything Before Anyone Even Leaves

It's the least-discussed and most brutal document out there: the per-country quota table. In street, each national federation can enter 3 men and 3 women. Park, same deal: 3 and 3. Two hundred dollars entry fee per skater. In other words, Brazil, Japan and the United States show up with the same number of spots as Bolivia or Belgium.

The other disciplines have a lot more breathing room. Vert allows 12 skaters per gender per country, slalom 5, downhill 8 (capped at 6 per event). That says something about where competitive skateboarding is at: where there's an Olympic spot at the end of the road, the door slams shut; where there isn't, it stays wide open.

What's Really at Stake on Paraguayan Concrete

A world champion title isn't something you make up for next year — the World Skate Games only happen every two years. For most of the riders there, Asunción will be the one shot of their career at putting "world champion" next to their name. There's also something simpler, and rarer. The last time these Games landed in South America was Buenos Aires in 2022. A worlds down there is nothing like a European worlds: October is already a hot month, the venues open right onto the city, and the crowd doesn't watch a run in silence. You'll hear it in the clips.

Who's Going to Be There? The List Hasn't Dropped Yet — And That's Normal

As of September 11, no entry list is public. And for good reason: registration was supposed to close September 10, but World Skate pushed it back to September 14 at 11:59 PM in its bulletin no. 6, dated the 10th. Payment of entry fees stays locked in for September 17. Until both of those doors are shut, nobody can say who'll be on the tarmac in Asunción.

So we're not going to make up favorites for you. What we do know is that selection runs through the national federations, not an individual ranking: a skater doesn't sign up on their own, they get entered. France, like everyone else, sends up three names per gender in street and park. We've already seen what the French scene can do in this format this season, with the French one-two in street at Taranto.

Tickets: The Straight Answer, and How to Follow From France

Here's the answer, no beating around the bush: three weeks out, there is no public ticketing. We combed through World Skate's event page, all six official bulletins and the news section: not a single sales URL, not a price, not a ticketing partner. The only windows open as of today are athlete registration and press accreditation, both of which went online this summer.

That's not necessarily bad news. At past editions, a big chunk of the venues were free to enter — and in Asunción, three of the four skate venues are public spaces: the esplanade of a presidential palace, a hill, a municipal sports complex. If you're on site, odds are you'll just walk right in. For official confirmation, worldskate.org and the @WSGASU26 accounts are where it'll drop — and we'll update this article the minute a sales link exists.

Watching from your couch is more clear-cut. worldskate.tv is the in-house platform: it already hosts the entire 2024 World Skate Games, park, street, vert and slalom included. The World Skate SB YouTube channel rounds it out with short formats and highlights. Time difference to plan for: Asunción is 5 hours behind France, so a late-afternoon final over there lands right in prime time evening back home. Block off October 10 for park and the 18th for street — those are the two dates that matter.
