Asian Games 2026: 4 Skate Titles in 4 Days, and Japan Only Took One Last Time

From September 24 to 27, 2026, skateboarding at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games goes down in an exhibition hall bolted right onto Nagoya’s airport. Four days, four titles, park and street, men and women. Tickets are on sale, no country restrictions, starting at 4,000 yen. And if you figure Japan is going to sweep the whole thing on home turf: last edition, they won exactly one out of four.

Where and when: four days in an expo hall stuck to the airport

The organizing committee dropped the schedule on August 25, 2026. Skateboarding runs four full days: park on Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th, street on Saturday the 26th and Sunday September 27. Men’s and women’s events happen the same day, back to back. No dead days, no stretching it out over two weeks: everything is packed tight.

The exact address is Hall B at Aichi Sky Expo, 5-10-1 Centrair, Tokoname. A six-hall convention center, opened in 2019, hooked directly onto Chubu Centrair International Airport. You step off the plane, you walk, you’re there. The same site hosts fencing, BMX freestyle, esports and breaking — so the skate hall is one module among others, not a dedicated stadium.

Here’s something nobody is talking about: the course layouts are already online. The street obstacles and the park bowl, drawn out in PDF, on the official site. You can break down the contest feature by feature three weeks before it even starts. That pretty much never happens.

What’s on the line here goes way beyond four medals. For a Chinese rider, a continental title means state recognition, a budget, a career that opens up overnight. For the Japanese, it’s heavier: they’re skating in front of their own crowd, two years after sweeping Olympic gold, with the unspoken obligation to back it up. And it’s the only meet-up where these two scenes cross paths outside the Olympic cycle. Four years of waiting behind every run.

The day-by-day schedule, and what each session costs

Four sessions, four ticket codes. Qualifiers cost half of a final, and finals day includes the medal ceremony. All times below are local, Japan time.

Under-15s pay half: 2,000 yen for qualifiers, 4,000 for finals. And there’s a pass that changes the whole equation if you’re making the trip: the Aichi Sky Expo 1-Day Pass, which gets you into all four halls on site — fencing, skate, BMX freestyle, esports — on the same day. 14,000 yen on Saturday the 26th, 18,000 on Sunday the 27th. That’s roughly 77 and 99 €. If you’re flying in from far away, that’s the math to run before buying a single session.

Grabbing a ticket from France: how it actually works

General sale has been open since June 30, 2026, with no geographic restrictions — international buyers are explicitly allowed. No lottery: first come, first served, right up to the day of the session. The catch is somewhere else.

To buy on the official ticketing site, you first have to create a Supporter ID. It’s free, but it’s a separate account, and without it your cart stays locked. The ticket then shows up as an e-ticket, on your phone or printable as a PDF. The paper “collector design” tickets were only available during the presale window and ship to a Japanese address — forget it.

Three safety nets if a session sells out. An official resale service has been running since August 4, 2026. Day-of tickets were announced on September 2. And authorized resellers — Ticket Pia, TBS Tickets, CBC Ticket Center — open up parallel inventory, with a lineup of sports that varies by platform. A ticket bought anywhere outside these channels gets turned away at the door: the organizer spells it out in black and white.

If you go, get ready for something specific. An expo hall is a sealed box: no daylight, no wind, nothing to soak up the sound. The wheels on the course bounce off the metal walls, and the pop of an ollie cracks like a gunshot. The stands are a few meters from the course. You can hear the rider breathing between tricks.

Who’s going to be there — and what we don’t know yet

Let’s be real: the entry list hasn’t been published. As of September 4, the official site shows neither national rosters nor a skate start list, and neither does World Skate. Any name thrown out today would be a guess. What we do know is who walked away with the medals last time — and that checks out.

Watching from France: the finals land at 2 and 3 in the morning

Japan is seven hours ahead of France in September. Brutal translation: park qualifiers and finals kick off at 2 AM your time, and Sunday’s street final at 3 AM. Alarm clock or replay, there’s no third option — we ran the same math for the Tempe final at 1:45 AM.

On the broadcast side, no French network has announced the Asian Games so far. What exists and works: the Games’ live results site, and the organization’s official YouTube channel, which posts highlights. To get in the mood in the meantime, the Paris 2024 street final is still the best showcase of the level these riders bring.

So, does Japan sweep all four titles, yes or no?

Straight answer: no, and it’s not even close. Japan owns world street — Yuto Horigome took Olympic gold twice in a row, and in Tempe the women’s podium was all Japanese. But the Asian Games aren’t the Olympics: selection is national and capped, and China shows up with a talent pool that almost never touches the Western circuit.

The number that should settle everybody down: in Hangzhou, Cui Chenxi won women’s street at 13 years old, with 242.62 points. Born in December 2009, the youngest athlete on the Chinese delegation, she showed up with no reputation and left with the gold. Zhang Jie did the same on the men’s side, Chen Ye in park. Three titles out of four for China, one for Japan. That’s why this contest is no formality for the host nation, and why it’s worth a 2 AM alarm.
